Boats @ Viaduct Harbour


Just catching up with posting some of my old work from 2015... I meant to post it so much earlier, but I left it to collect "digital dust" ever since.




Spent the late afternoon to early evening drawing this boat in my sketchbook. It was pretty chilly that day, my hands were freezing.


High key tonal values were added to the drawing in Photoshop. Looking back, perhaps I could have worked on the lighting a little more.   

 


The shape of this boat gave me the impression of "sampans" when I first saw it, even though it really wasn't one.



I was focusing on the one-point perspective in this drawing. I found that blocking-in the shadows helped the drawing look more three dimensional.
